Funko Fusion has unveiled a pair of downloadable content (DLC) bundles inspired by the newly-released film adaptation of the popular Wicked musical. This exciting update brings a fresh wave of characters and adventures, adding another layer to the vibrant world of Funko Fusion, which already lets players dive into realms from a variety of franchises. Whether it’s through expansive worlds or simply unlocking beloved characters, the game offers diverse experiences rooted in popular culture.
Originally, the game allowed players to explore main worlds themed around series like The Umbrella Academy and Jurassic World, along with character unlocks from hits like Invincible and Child’s Play. Now, thanks to two unexpected Wicked-themed DLC packs, Funko Fusion aficionados can further enrich their gaming lineup with fresh characters from the wicked land of Oz.
Each of these Wicked DLC packs sells for $7.99. The first pack introduces the main protagonists, Elphaba and Glinda, while the second pack adds The Wizard and Madame Morrible to the mix. Although these characters won’t come with a dedicated Wicked world, they are fully playable in any environment across Funko Fusion. This means fans of the movie can now manipulate their favorite characters through the already vast and varied worlds within the game.
On the technical side, for those gaming on PCs, PS5, or Xbox Series X, Funko Fusion is readily accessible. However, upcoming December 6 updates will also allow PS4 and Switch users access, and they’ll be able to explore the new Wicked DLC from day one.
Despite launching to a wave of criticism, Funko Fusion’s developers have actively worked to refine the game, rolling out updates that have resolved issues, particularly with boss fights and the overall difficulty curve. Most notably, they have introduced online co-op, transforming the experience by enabling friends to team up throughout the entirety of the game. Together, these enhancements promise a considerably richer and more enjoyable gaming experience.
For Wicked fans eager for representation in the gaming world, this DLC is a significant step. With the first part of the movie already a box office success, it remains to be seen if more collaborations will spring up next year as the film’s sequel makes its debut. Funko Fusion’s addition is certainly a promising start in bringing this beloved story to the gaming universe, and many will be watching to see where the story goes from here.
