Valve Introduces Refurbished Steam Deck OLEDs at 20% Off — Get the 512GB for $439 and the 1TB for $519

Valve has just added the Steam Deck OLED to its certified refurbished program, giving gamers a chance to snag this OLED model at a considerable discount. The refurbished versions offer about 20% off compared to their brand-new counterparts, making it an appealing deal.

There are two models available under this refurbished offer: the 1TB OLED and the 512GB OLED. The 1TB refurbished model is priced at $519, while the 512GB version comes in at $439. In contrast, if you were to buy them new, you’d be spending $649 for the 1TB and $549 for the 512GB, which means you’re saving $120 on the 1TB and $110 on the 512GB. Interestingly, you can pick up a refurbished 1TB OLED for $30 less than a brand-new 512GB OLED.

Currently, the only new Steam Deck option priced lower than these refurbished OLEDs is the older 256GB LCD model, retailing at $399. Though Valve offers certified refurbished LCD models, they are completely out of stock for the 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB variants, and you can no longer buy the 512GB and 64GB LCD models brand new.

It’s worth noting that the Steam Deck OLED is more than just a minor enhancement. This upgrade features a switch from an LCD to a vibrant OLED display, boasting a 90Hz refresh rate and a larger 7.4-inch screen with HDR capability, 400 nits of brightness, and 1000 nits peak brightness in HDR mode. In contrast, the old LCD model offered just a 7-inch screen, without HDR support, maxing out at 60Hz and 400 nits.

Underneath, Valve has enhanced the internal system too. They’ve upgraded the battery from a 40Whr unit to a 50Whr one, which Valve claims can power the OLED for anywhere between 3 to 12 hours, game-dependent. The older LCD version could handle 2-8 hours. RAM saw a boost from 5500MT/s LPDDR5 to 6400 MT/s LPDDR5, and the AMD processor now has a more efficient 6nm process node, down from 7nm.

Right now, these refurbished Steam Deck OLEDs are available in a select few regions which include Canada, the EU, the UK, and the US. They come with a one-year warranty, matching that of new units, though the duration might be longer based on where you reside.
