Famed for its handheld consoles, Ayaneo has unveiled its newest flagship model, the Ayaneo 3. Building upon the achievements of its predecessor, this latest device maintains a familiar design and button configuration but introduces several hardware enhancements.
In a recent blog post, Ayaneo revealed that buyers of the Ayaneo 3 will have a choice between two impressive processors: the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U or the more robust AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Complementing this is a seven-inch high-refresh-rate display, available in both LCD and OLED HDR, aimed at delivering top-notch immersion. Additionally, Ayaneo has incorporated two extra buttons on the rear of the console to expand user control options.
However, Ayaneo has yet to provide further specifics about the Ayaneo 3, leaving details about its RAM, storage, and pricing under wraps for now. Reflecting back on the Ayaneo 2, it came with 16GB or 32GB of RAM and storage choices ranging from 512GB to 2TB, with prices starting at $1,099 and going up to $1,549 for a limited-edition model. It’s reasonable to anticipate similar configurations for the Ayaneo 3, albeit likely at a marginally higher price point.
This new release positions Ayaneo as one of the pioneering handheld consoles incorporating the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Although many contemporary games haven’t yet harnessed the NPU found in the HX 370 processor, its four additional cores, Zen 5 architecture, and AMD Radeon 890M integrated graphics ensure a significant performance boost over the Ryzen 7 8840U. This processor alone promises to outpower many top-tier PC gaming handhelds currently reliant on the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
The Ayaneo 3 is launching into a market already bustling with formidable contenders. In the near future, we anticipate the arrival of competitors such as the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two, all expected by the end of the year or early 2025. It remains to be seen how the Ayaneo 3 will carve out its niche amidst this competition and what kind of unique experience it will offer to handheld gaming enthusiasts.
