When Survios launched their much-anticipated horror-shooter, Alien: Rogue Incursion, last week, not everyone realized they were diving into a ‘Part One’ experience. Rest assured, this doesn’t mean you’re only getting half a game on purchase. Instead, it’s a hint of exciting things still to come.
The game hit PC VR and PSVR 2 platforms last week, and the new ‘Part One’ label led to some confusion among players. Was this a complete game, or were episodes being rolled out piecemeal?
In our comprehensive review, we gave this eight-hour journey a respectable 7 out of 10. The immersive settings and heart-pounding encounters with swarming Xenomorphs were standout features. However, the repetitive enemy types and a rather unforgiving save system pulled the score down a bit.
In response, Survios posted a clarification on X, addressing the puzzlement over the ‘Part One’ tag. They assured fans that they’re not artificially stretching the content. Indeed, while this standalone adventure wraps up on a cliffhanger, it’s merely the first chapter of a two-part narrative.
Part Two is already in the works, Survios confirmed last week. They promise it will feature “deadlier enemies and more challenging obstacles,” which is certainly something to look forward to.
We’re also eager to see how the game will perform on the Quest platform once it launches on Quest 3/3S come February 13th, 2025. As highlighted in our review, the game comes packed with dynamically loading levels, richly detailed textures, and extensive physics-based interactions. These factors likely contributed to the initial postponement of the Quest release.
Here’s the full statement from Survios:
“To our valued community,
We’ve received considerable feedback regarding the usage of ‘Part One’ in various parts of Alien: Rogue Incursion, such as its introduction, achievements/trophies, and store listings.
Our intention was never to confuse or mislead about the nature of this game. We now recognize how ‘Part One’ could be interpreted.
‘Part One’ stands as a complete adventure, albeit ending with a cliffhanger. We wanted fans aware from the get-go that more awaits, which prompted us to confirm Part Two at launch. Everyone at Survios shares a deep affection for the Alien universe, and we’re eager to continue weaving tales around Zula, Davis, and other characters.
Though we have nothing concrete to announce about Part Two yet, aside from its active development, we’re committed to sharing more exciting news down the line.
We sincerely appreciate your enthusiasm and passion for Alien: Rogue Incursion, and we hope you enjoy delving into Purdan and Castor’s Cradle as much as we enjoyed crafting them.”
