Have you ever paused to ponder just how much dough a PC gamer with a PC Game Pass subscription can actually save? Well, let me tell you, the savings are pretty impressive. In 2024 alone, the total value of games added to the service was nearly $5,000.
The folks over at PCGamesN, specifically Jamie Hore, took on the task of crunching the numbers for us. Over the course of the year, they tallied up the dollar value of all 137 games that were introduced to the Game Pass catalogue. The grand total? A whopping $4,812.63. Keep in mind, an annual subscription to PC Game Pass will set you back only about $143. That’s quite a bundle of savings!
Of course, there are a few things to consider. This significant savings assumes you’re playing every game that gets added to the service as soon as it makes its debut. Plus, savings only really kick in for games you actually play. Take Starfield, for instance; saving $30 on it doesn’t do much for me unless I’m keen to dive into it. I’d probably need more of an incentive to give it a go.
Yet, this information underscores the potential savings Game Pass offers, backed by hard data. The PCGamesN piece breaks down how much you could save each month. April was particularly rich, with 17 games added, including five coming out on day one. December was a bit quieter, adding only six games, but even then, the potential savings hit $214.94. So, even during the quieter months, there’s still substantial value.
How does this information change your thoughts on PC Game Pass? Maybe it’s making you think more fondly of your subscription, or are you regretting not jumping aboard last year? Or perhaps you’re just a free-spirit gamer, chasing the thrill of the open seas? Share your thoughts with us!
