The World of Assassination has become a popular hub for Hitman enthusiasts, attracting a whopping 75 million players since its inception. This success story comes from IO Interactive, the creative force behind the game, who also revealed that in December 2024, there were about a million players actively engaging with the game.
Originally released as Hitman 3 in 2021, the game later transformed into World of Assassination, incorporating content from the 2016 Hitman reboot and its 2017 follow-up. This rebranding has kept the game fresh and exciting for players.
“Hitman World of Assassination owes its ongoing popularity to the steady stream of new content and its loyal fanbase,” shared IO Interactive. “With an array of new experiences lined up for 2025, players have plenty to look forward to as they immerse themselves in endless hours of Hitman adventures.”
In a fun twist, IO recently added a mission where players face off against the iconic 80s and 90s action hero Jean-Claude Van Damme. Interestingly, 40% of players who attempted this mission have successfully “eliminated” the star, suggesting that the challenge is both thrilling and achievable for seasoned Hitman fans.
