Intel has been making strides in the world of graphics technology, with XeSS now being a prominent feature in over 150 games. As they look to the future, the development of XeSS 2 is just getting off the ground, promising even more potential.
With the advent of its first-gen Intel Arc Alchemist graphics cards, Intel was a trailblazer in bringing a super-sampling solution to the market. Although it has been a couple of years since the debut of XeSS, it has seen numerous enhancements, leading to the introduction of XeSS 2.
While XeSS 2 hasn’t yet become widespread, the original XeSS 1.0 along with its updates are already found in a broad range of games. Intel is excited to announce that XeSS has now been integrated into more than 150 titles, with additional games set to incorporate it soon.
A detailed roster of games featuring XeSS is available, showcasing several major AAA releases. However, when comparing XeSS with AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) and NVIDIA’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), the competition remains fierce.
Intel isn’t quite matching up to what’s offered by its competitors just yet, but it’s certainly making impressive progress. While the bulk of these games support XeSS 1 and its latest versions, XeSS 2 is currently a rarity. At this point, only two games, F1 2024 and Marvel Rivals, feature XeSS 2 support. Nonetheless, many future titles and some updates to existing games are lined up to integrate XeSS 2, including Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Killing Floor 3 among others.
Additionally, a few games are starting to embrace Intel’s XeSS Frame Generation, though it doesn’t have the widespread availability seen with FSR and DLSS’s respective Frame Generation technologies. XeSS 2 and Frame Generation are compatible only with the Intel Arc Battlemage series, but as of now, there are just two available GPUs in this lineup—the Arc B580 and Arc B570—with limited availability.
