Few games manage to pull off crossovers as deftly as Dead By Daylight does. The way it brings iconic killers from different franchises to life is a treat, offering fans stunning recreations and fresh twists on gameplay with unique character perks. Sure, the Survivor crossovers are exciting, but there’s just something thrilling about going on a hunt as the Xenomorph from Alien or Pyramid Head from Silent Hill. While the roster of killers in Dead By Daylight is ever-expanding, Behaviour Interactive has just dropped some surprising news: one of the game’s iconic characters is set to exit the stage. In just a few weeks, The Cenobite will no longer be available in the Dead By Daylight store.
Yes, you heard that right. Pinhead, the chilling figure from the Hellraiser universe, is about to become unobtainable. All the content tied to the Hellraiser Chapter is on its way out. Behaviour hasn’t given an elaborate reason for this removal, simply stating, “Dead by Daylight is a live service game, and there’s always the possibility that unexpected changes may occur.” It seems likely that the licensing agreement for this particular DLC has reached its end.
But there’s a silver lining for current Pinhead owners—or those quick enough to pick him up before he disappears. You’ll still get to unleash him in the game, complete with all the Hellraiser content you’ve snagged. His special perks will retain their original names if you’ve got him. However, for those who don’t, these perks will be renamed and added to the general pool. The same goes for any Hellraiser achievements; they’ll still hold their unique flavor for those who’ve already unlocked them.
If you’re keen on keeping Pinhead in your Dead By Daylight lineup, now’s your shot to secure him. Behaviour announced a “Last Chance” sale, offering 50% off all Hellraiser-related content, including The Chatterer Legendary Outfit, until it bids farewell to The Fog for good.
Pinhead, The Cenobite, will remain available in Dead By Daylight until Friday, April 4 at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm BST/ 5pm CEST.
It’s not every day you see a crossover character leave DBD, and even though plenty of fantastic characters remain, there’s some understandable concern about potential future removals due to licensing issues. The Hellraiser DLC joined the game in August 2021, giving fans a good few years with it.
