Yesterday, excitement buzzed through the virtual reality community as Bigscreen opened pre-orders for its eagerly anticipated Beyond 2 PC VR headset. With its sleeker design and enhanced features like a new pancake lens, the Beyond 2 promises a more immersive experience thanks to improved field-of-view and clarity. And, to say the least, it’s off to a fantastic start. Within just 10 hours of going live, Beyond 2’s sales surpassed those of the original Beyond by a considerable margin.
Bigscreen’s updates on social media platform X gave us a glimpse into how the headset was being received by VR enthusiasts. “In the first 25 minutes alone, Beyond 2 outsold what we managed on the entire first day of Beyond 1’s launch,” the company shared. They didn’t stop there, adding, “After just one hour, we’ve doubled Beyond 1’s launch day numbers.”
Later in the day, the company provided further insights into the sales trajectory of the Beyond 2 and its eye-tracking counterpart, the Beyond 2e. The most recent figures are nothing short of astonishing. “Within just 10 hours of launch, Beyond 2 has outsold the first four months of Beyond 1 sales,” Bigscreen announced.
Currently, both Beyond 2 and the Beyond 2e are slated for shipment in June 2025, having already sold out the initial batches originally set for April and May.
So, what is behind all the excitement for the Beyond 2? While you can read in-depth specs and features elsewhere, it seems the straightforward upgrade path Bigscreen has offered is a key factor. Owners of the original Beyond can grab the new model for just $849, or the 2e for $1,049, and enjoy backwards compatibility with most of their existing accessories, including the essential custom facial interface.
The Beyond 2 shines with its new pancake lenses, featuring a wider 116-degree diagonal field-of-view and an adjustable IPD mechanism. It’s also lighter, weighing in at a mere 107 grams, and the 2e version introduces AI-powered eye-tracking into the mix. The headset still uses the dual 1-inch 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays from its predecessor, but the refreshed lenses offer a noticeable leap in clarity and field-of-view.
Price points for the Beyond 2 and 2e are set at $1,019 and $1,219, respectively, with discounts available for Beyond 1 owners. Alongside the headsets, Bigscreen also unveiled a new halo-style mount and a Lightblocker facial interface, expected to hit the market in the third quarter of 2025.
For those looking to upgrade their setup, these products are currently available for pre-order on Bigscreen’s official website.
