Almost a month has passed since Monster Hunter Wilds landed on the PlayStation 5, and hunters from all over have been showing their support in astounding ways. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran with countless hunts under your belt or you’re just starting your adventure with Wilds, we truly hope you’re enjoying the game to the fullest. Many of you have likely clocked in numerous hours in High Rank mode, even after rolling the credits.
We’re thrilled to announce what’s lined up next for Monster Hunter Wilds with its very first Free Title Update.
And here comes a real treat: the debut of our game’s Free Title Update! Dive into new challenges and beasts that will bring fresh excitement to your hunting experience.
Prepare to encounter the stunning Leviathan known as Mizutsune in the Wilds. This creature glides through its territory with grace, attacking foes using slippery bubbles. Get ready to face this beauty for the first time in Monster Hunter Wilds and equip yourself with brand new armor sets for your hunter and your trusty Palico.
Hunting Mizutsune comes with more than just a dazzling showdown. You’ll need to be at Hunter Rank 21 or higher to meet Kanya in the Scarlet Forest Base Camp and start this eight-star Tempered hunt.
But that’s not all. Enter the fray with the mighty Arch-tempered Rey Dau in an Event Quest. Up until now, the fiercest threats in the game have been Tempered monsters, but Free Title Update 1 is shaking things up. Step up to the plate against the even more daunting Arch-tempered Rey Dau, which will test even seasoned hunters at HR 50 or above. This quest arrives on April 30, so gear up and prepare for the challenge it brings.
For those who enjoy a tougher challenge, the new Rey Dau γ (gamma) and Felyne Rey Dau γ (gamma) armor sets are yours to forge. Just take down the Arch-tempered Rey Dau.
That’s not the end of the updates! Zoh Shia makes a return, this time in High Rank. Previously a one-time encounter, Zoh Shia will feature in a new mission for hunters reaching HR 50 and above. Completing it will let you take part in the Zoh Shia quest, selectable in the Environment Overview. And for a rare treat, catch it during the Wyvern’s Wakening in the Ruins of Wyveria.
Expect to find materials capable of crafting brand-new High Rank hunter and Palico gear.
A brand new social hub, The Grand Hub, is now open for hunters to gather. This vibrant space is perfect for mingling and engaging in fun activities unique to its setting. A special highlight is Diva’s occasional nightly performances – something not to be missed. Moreover, try your hand at the new Barrel Bowling mini-game. Players earn rewards by scoring through their performance, with entry vouchers available from login bonuses and other sources.
And here’s something to tantalize your tastebuds – Felynes are eager to whip up delicious meals for hunters in the Grand Hub. There’s also room to socialize and strategize with fellow hunters around the hub’s dining table.
Access to the Grand Hub opens up at Hunter Rank 16 once you chat with Tetsuzan in Suja. Once this location is unlocked, squad management officially moves to the Grand Hub’s Squad Information Counter.
If you’ve ever fancied challenging yourself, Arena Quests make their return, allowing up to two players to complete a task as fast as possible with specific gear. Rank your time against global players via the Expedition Record Board.
Challenge and Free Challenge Quests also beckon with event quests that reward pendants. While all participants secure pendants, special ones are handed out based on your personal and world ranking. Similar to Arena, these quests come with pre-set gear rules but allow more players in Free Challenge Quests. Tackle these alongside Support Hunters and hone your skills further.
A touch of personalization is coming with the option to switch up Alma’s outfit via the Appearance Menu, including choices after completing some side missions. Delight in a free outfit update for Alma.
Into downloadable content? Get ready for different outfits and gesture packs available to download post-update from the PlayStation Store. A Cosmetic DLC Pack 1 is also rolling out for those with the Cosmetic DLC Pass, purchasable separately or part of the Premium Deluxe Edition.
A seasonal event, the Festival of Accord: Blossomdance, is occurring from April 23 to May 7 at the Grand Hub. Immerse yourself and enjoy unique decor, foods, limited equipment, gestures, and pop-up camp decorations during this period.
That’s it for now regarding the first Free Title Update. We’ve teased a bit about the kinds of fixes and tweaks also coming your way. Excitingly, another update will roll out in May, featuring a collaboration with another Capcom game. Plus, Free Title Update 2 is on track for summer, promising even more content down the line.
Until then, happy hunting, and enjoy this sneak peek into what the world of Monster Hunter Wilds has in store for you!
