It looks like NVIDIA and AMD are gearing up to release their more budget-conscious GPUs this May, aiming to capture the mid-tier graphics card market.
### NVIDIA and AMD Set to Capture Mid-Range GPU Market with RTX 5060 and RX 9060 XT
For gamers and users shopping in the low-to-mid price range, choices have been pretty limited recently. NVIDIA’s newest GPUs have been rare and selling at a premium well above their suggested retail prices. AMD has faced similar challenges with the demand for their RX 9070 series outstripping supply, making MSRP pricing almost a myth. However, it appears both brands are preparing to roll out new options next month, according to a report by Benchlife.
Let’s start with NVIDIA. They plan to introduce the GeForce RTX 5060 on May 19. This card will sport an 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM, offering speeds of 28 Gbps through a 128-bit memory bus. Notably, the RTX 5060 will consume more power, with a 35W TDP increase compared to the RTX 4060. Here’s what sets the RTX 5060 apart from the previous generation:
– 25% More CUDA Cores
– Same Memory Capacity
– Faster GDDR7 Memory (28 Gbps)
– 64% More Bandwidth
– 30% Higher Power Rating
On the AMD side, we anticipate the Radeon RX 9060 XT to be unveiled on May 21 at Computex, though it might not hit retailers until June. The RX 9060 XT will use the Navi 44 architecture on a 128-bit bus, available in both 8GB and 16GB configurations, similar to NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti. It’s expected to include 2,048 stream processors, which is half of what the Radeon RX 9070 XT offers. Game clocks are set at 2620 MHz, and boost clocks will reach 3230 MHz, ensuring strong performance for 1080p and 2K gaming.
We’ll be on the ground at Computex 2025 to cover the NVIDIA and AMD launches live, and if we can, provide early sneak peeks. The battle in the mid-range GPU arena is heating up, and May might just be a pivotal month in this showdown.
