The gaming community is no stranger to crossovers and reimaginations, and now we have something truly unique on the horizon. A passionate fan is working to bring the celebrated Fallout: New Vegas experience into the world of The Sims 2. Dubbed The Sims 2: New Vegas, this intriguing fan-made remaster reflects just how creative Fallout enthusiasts can get when they have some spare time on their hands.
This ambitious project, still in the early stages, has already caught the attention of the gaming world. Spotted by TheGamer, there’s a dedicated subreddit where the creator, Baron Pulitzer—who you might know as FalloutPropMaster—has been sharing updates. By day, Pulitzer runs an independent film production company, but by night, they’re deep into recreating New Vegas within The Sims universe. It’s a passion project that’s been unfolding over the past week.
Pulitzer shared their impatience in a debut post: “I’ve gotten impatient waiting for a remastered version of Fallout: New Vegas. My dream is to create a remaster that also brings back some of the cut content from the game’s beta phase,” they wrote. Discovering uploads by a user named ‘lilipad’ on ModTheSims—featuring a couple of the iconic New Vegas Strip casinos—sparked the idea to recreate New Vegas in The Sims 2. Despite having modded Fallout 3 and New Vegas before, they’ve never modded The Sims, which adds another layer of challenge and learning to this project.
Over this past week, Pulitzer revisited tools from over a decade ago—like Milkshape, FOMM, Blender, and Nifscope. The nostalgia is palpable, but it’s also a fresh way to spend some free time. So far, they’ve shared their progress in mapping out the Mojave Wasteland neighborhood in The Sims 2, complete with must-haves like The Strip and Freeside. The recreated version of the beloved Goodsprings’ Prospector Saloon marks the perfect starting point for this kind of ambitious endeavor.
Character development is also underway, with scenes featuring Vulpes Inculta—everyone’s favorite Legion figure—hanging out with ghouls and engaging in kickball games. There’s even a household of companions, possibly exchanging tales of dealing with a certain courier’s reckless antics involving stimpaks and bullet escapades.
The project also flaunts a revamped version of The Sims 2’s user interface, tapping into classic Fallout vibes that fans are bound to appreciate.
It’s definitely worth keeping tabs on this creative venture, especially for anyone who’s revisiting The Sims 2 through the Legacy Collection remaster. If you’re craving another journey through the Mojave—perhaps as a hungry vault dweller plotting to devour Mr. House and unintentionally make enemies while nibbling on Caesar’s salad—this fan project might just be the escape you’ve been waiting for.
