Schell Games and Innersloth have shared some exciting news: Among Us VR is getting a makeover and flatscreen support, introducing a crossplay feature between VR and PC gamers. This update heralds a rebranding to Among Us 3D, marking the debut of a first-person view for PC players.
The team at Schell Games confirmed that with Among Us 3D, PC users can dive into cross-platform gameplay with VR fans, connecting through various devices such as Quest, SteamVR, PSVR 2, and Pico headsets. However, it’s important to note that Among Us 3D will not be compatible with the original 2D version of Among Us from 2018. The 2D and VR versions have been distinct entities since the introduction of Among Us VR back in November 2022.
Ryan Hall, Project Director at Schell Games, expressed his enthusiasm about the update: “Introducing the first-person view to a larger audience through Among Us 3D is thrilling. By bringing together VR and PC players, we’re creating even more opportunities for players to engage in the game’s signature devious fun—whether that’s deceiving or catching friends in the act!”
This exciting rebrand will roll out over the coming months with updates on store pages, websites, and in-game branding. Alongside this transformation, players will also see the addition of a new in-game currency called ‘Stardust.’ This currency aims to give players the chance to acquire cosmetic items, supporting the game’s growth and future expansions.
Although there’s no official release date yet, gamers won’t have to wait too long for a sneak peek. Among Us 3D is set to be featured in Steam Next Fest, offering an exclusive early demo to eager players before its official launch.
