Nintendo’s mobile app, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, is closing its doors on November 28th, 2024, at 3 PM BST / 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET. We were aware of this impending farewell, and although we assured ourselves everything would be fine with Pocket Camp Complete coming to mobile soon, we’re still feeling a bit emotional with the new in-game event, the ‘Thank-You Finale.’
Unlike the usual quiet farewells of other Nintendo apps, Pocket Camp’s ‘Thank-You Finale’ is dedicated to celebrating the camp you’ve nurtured over the past seven years. Instead of slipping away unnoticed, this event is all about reminiscing and saying goodbye.
While we’re not going to dive into the specifics of the finale here (you can check out a video from Kolma linked below if you’re curious), it’s safe to say you’ll be strolling down memory lane with your cherished villagers alongside you. Expect fireworks, friendships, and maybe, just maybe, a tear or two if you feel as attached as we do.
To join in the ‘Thank-You Finale,’ find the ‘Flower Card’ in the Misc. section of your Tools page and give it to an animal in your campsite or cabin. This will earn you the ‘Thank-You Flower Stand,’ which you can display and interact with to begin the memorable message.
In a tweet from Pocket Camp’s official account, they encouraged players to share experiences from their Thank-You Finale, adding a community touch to the farewell:
“Who showed up in your Thank-You Finale? Let us know in the replies. #PocketCamp pic.twitter.com/zaRbADCSib”
Although it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, cheer up because this isn’t the end just yet. If you’re keen to continue the mobile Animal Crossing experience, Pocket Camp Complete hits the app stores next month. Launching on December 3rd, this paid app offers an early-bird discount price at $9.99 / £8.99 until January 31st, 2025, after which it reverts to the regular cost of $19.99 / £17.99.
The new version retains its former charm with some added perks like new Leaf Tokens and a practical Camper Cards feature. Plus, you can transfer all your data from Pocket Camp, ensuring a smooth transition without needing to spend extra Bells.
Until then, take a look at the ‘Thank-You Finale’ video we promised. It’s a fond farewell to a beloved game.
