Balatro, the addictive poker-themed roguelike, has officially surpassed five million copies sold. This impressive achievement was shared by Harvey Elliott, the CEO of publisher PlayStack, during his talk at Pocket Gamer Connects London 2025. Our sister site, PocketGamer.biz, covered the news, describing it as an “incredible” accomplishment.
Back in December, the game had already reached 3.5 million copies sold, but it’s clear that Balatro’s success didn’t stop there. Winning big at The Game Awards certainly added a boost to its indie appeal.
“Selling five million units of any game is an incredible milestone worthy of celebration,” Elliott commented. He emphasized how remarkable it is to hit such numbers in less than a year, especially for a game developed by a solo creator.
“I’m immensely proud of the developer, LocalThunk, and the entire PlayStack team,” Elliott continued, highlighting their collective efforts in pushing the game towards ongoing success.
