If you’ve been eagerly waiting for new additions in Pokemon TCG Pocket, there’s some great news! A fresh expansion is set to arrive next week, and it’s bringing a new booster pack along with a chance to snag a Mew card.
According to a recent Tweet from the official game account, this expansion is named Mythical Island and is coming out on Tuesday, December 17th. The social media person behind TCG Pocket shared, “I pulled out all the stops to get this scoop for you—though honestly, it just took a nice request and a bit of pleading.”
In the trailer below, you can glimpse a variety of new cards. This includes Mew, Aerodactyl, and Celebi among the exciting Pokémon ex cards available in the Mythical Island booster pack. For anyone who’s already got more Doduos than they know what to do with, this new option adds a refreshing variety.
The trailer describes the Mythical Island expansion as featuring over 80 cards, including five new and thrilling Pokémon ex cards, five new Trainer cards, and beautifully immersive cards that transport you into the enchanting Pokémon universe.
For fans looking to upgrade their collections, there are also new binder and display board covers inspired by the scenery of Mythical Island. You can give your Pokémon team a virtual holiday, or at least the illusion of one. It’s all in good fun, even if the whole concept of Pokémon as battle creatures seems a bit questionable the more you think about it.
Do Pokémon enjoy their roles as seemingly ageless beings sent to battle in card arenas? It’s a question that might not have a straightforward answer. However, with TCG Pocket hitting over 60 million downloads, the game has a massive following, myself included, so I’m not looking to upset the balance.
