In the world of Fortnite, the iconic Godzilla has made a thunderous entrance, stomping across the map as a formidable boss that players can actually become.
By transforming into Godzilla, players unlock an arsenal of destructive abilities capable of leveling entire cities and taking out competitors, but snatching up this coveted power is no walk in the park. It all begins with finding a special portal—only one per match spawns in a random location. Entering the portal first is key to becoming the game’s terrifying kaiju.
If you’re eager to become Godzilla in Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 1, here’s a quick guide on how to achieve it.
Recently, on January 18th, an update rolled out doubling the chances of Godzilla’s portal appearing, now listed at a 40% spawn rate compared to the initial 20%.
To get your claws on Godzilla in Fortnite, keep your eyes peeled for the portal. It won’t show up in every match, making every sighting valuable. According to the popular Fortnite content creator HYPEX, you’ll have a 40% chance to see it appear once the first Storm Circle starts shrinking. Be on high alert for the announcement on your screen that boldly states “Godzilla Portal is open,” which is your cue to rush towards it.
Once the portal is open, its location is marked on your map with a Godzilla icon, making it easy to pinpoint. However, the spawn timing is early, leaving you to navigate the battle royale chaos as players scramble for position. If the portal happens to spawn away from your location, the smart move is to gather plenty of ammunition if you plan to take Godzilla down instead of becoming him.
For those hunting fame and rewards, Fortnite offers two specific quests that involve inflicting damage on Godzilla. Targeting the glowing spikes along his back provides bonus damage, boosting your progression on the “Damage Inflicted” leaderboard found right beneath his health bar.
Should you successfully become Godzilla, you get three mighty abilities at your disposal. Yet, crushing players beneath your massive feet can also be an effective strategy!
