Considering the array of releases hitting the eShop weekly, it’s admittedly a bit surprising to think that Nintendo imposes any real restrictions beyond avoiding the “Adults Only” label.
In a surprising turn of events this past May, three scheduled releases have seemingly vanished without a trace. Their publisher has confirmed this absence is permanent.
Idea Factory International recently shared some disappointing news: planned localizations for the Hyperdimension Neptunia Rebirth trilogy and Death End re;Quest: Code Z, initially set for a 2025 release, have been scrapped. The publisher explained, “The 3 Neptunia titles and Death end re;Quest: Code Z for North America and Europe will no longer launch on the Nintendo Switch/Nintendo eShop because they do not comply with Nintendo Guidelines.”
What’s intriguing is that the Neptunia series, when they previously launched on the PlayStation Vita, received T ratings from the ESRB. Meanwhile, the planned PlayStation 4 and 5 releases for Death End are unaffected and will proceed as scheduled.
