Minisforum recently revealed an exciting lineup of cutting-edge products powered by AMD Ryzen, spotlighting the Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" CPU in both MoTD and Mini PC configurations.
Minisforum Introduces Innovative AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" Offerings
At Japan’s IT Spring Week, Minisforum unveiled their latest advancements, showcasing the integration of AMD Ryzen processors in a range of devices, including MoTD (Mobile on Desktop) motherboards, compact Mini PCs, and NAS systems.
Minisforum F1FGM MoTD Motherboard: A Powerhouse for Desktop Enthusiasts
Leading the charge is the Minisforum F1FGM, continuing the MoTD series with its cutting-edge CPU. Designed in an mATX format, this motherboard is equipped with robust heatsinks across various components including VRMs, M.2 slots, and the PCH. An IO cover completes the ensemble, marking it as the natural successor to the BD770i and BD790i lines, which previously showcased the Dragon Range Ryzen 7000HX CPUs. Now, it’s all about the advanced Fire Range Ryzen 9000HX series.
The MoTD can host the powerful AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX CPU, which boasts 16 cores and 32 threads rooted in the Zen 5 core architecture. With a boost clock reaching up to 5.4 GHz and a substantial 64 MB of L3 cache, the processor’s standard power rating is 55W. However, the desktop iteration of this "mobile" chip can be pushed to 160W when paired with this motherboard, ensuring a high-performance experience.
This board isn’t limited to just one CPU choice—it also offers an "X3D" variant. Cooling is efficiently managed with a vapor chamber baseplate, as mobile CPUs typically lack an IHS. A 13-phase Duet rail VRM design, complete with 60A SPS power stages, keeps things running smoothly.
The board’s specs are impressive, featuring four DDR5 DIMM slots in a regular UDIMM layout, supporting up to 256 GB and astonishing speeds of up to 8000. The chipset, the X870M, while mobile-grade, is akin to the B850 series. Connectivity options include two PCIe slots (5.0 x16 & 4.0 x16), three M.2 slots where one supports Gen5x4 speeds, and two SATA III ports. Cutting-edge IO, like USB4, 5GbE LAN, and WIFI7, is on hand, along with two BIOS DEBUG LEDs for troubleshooting.
Minisforum MS-A2 Mini PC: Compact Yet Feature-Rich with Fire Range CPUs
Moving to the Minisforum MS-A2 Mini PC, this device represents an evolution from the MS-A1 series, which featured Ryzen 8000G CPUs. The Fire Range CPUs introduce new IO capabilities, including three M.2 slots (with one supporting U.2), 10 GbE LAN through an SFP+ port, and a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot accommodating low-profile cards.
Unlike the MoTD motherboard, the Mini PC version incorporates two SO-DIMM slots, offering a capacity of up to 96 GB at 5200 MT/s. The IO setup includes 2 USB 3.2 Gen Type-C ports, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, a solitary USB 2.0 port, two 10 GbE LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, and both DP and HDMI outputs.
Minisforum N5 PRO: Unleashing Strix Power in NAS Systems
Last but not least, the Strix-powered N5 PRO NAS unit is built around an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU, featuring 12 cores and 24 threads, complemented by a Radeon 890M iGPU. The NAS supports five 3.5-inch bays with RAID configuration capabilities, all housed in a toolless design for effortless drive management. It can accommodate up to 48 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMMs and includes a single PCIe 4.0 x4 slot for video interface needs.
Each drive bay supports up to 22 TB, and there are three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots (2x Gen4x1 and 1x Gen4x2). Connectivity features include a 10 GbE and a 5 GbE Ethernet port, supplemented by three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports for additional interface options.
With these innovations, Minisforum is set to release these new solutions in the coming months, so keep an eye out for further updates.
