NVIDIA has rolled out a new hotfix for its GeForce display driver, aiming to tackle some of the persistent display glitches and a recently discovered issue with GPU temperature readings.
NVIDIA’s New Driver Hotfix Attempts to Tackle Ongoing Display Crashes
I must say, seeing this many hotfixes for a driver release is quite unusual. NVIDIA seems to be grappling a bit with the software support for their RTX 50 series GPUs. Frankly, I’ve lost track of how many fixes they’ve released! Nonetheless, Team Green has put out another update, version 576.15, addressing several problems. These include the display crashes that users encountered with the original v576.02 driver, as well as a new issue with the temperature sensor. This sensor glitch reportedly affected GPU voltages and clock speeds.
Here’s what the hotfix aims to resolve:
- Games on the RTX 50 series witnessing shadow flicker or corruption post update to GRD 576.02 [5231537]
- Lumion 2024 encountering crashes when entering render mode on GeForce RTX 50 series cards [5232345]
- GPU monitoring tools occasionally failing to report temperatures after a system wake from sleep [5231307]
- Some games crashing on the RTX 50 series during shader compilation post update to GRD 576.02 [5230492]
- Black screen issues when resuming from Modern Standby on GeForce RTX 50 series notebooks [5204385]
- SteamVR might showcase random V-SYNC micro-stutters with multiple displays on the RTX 50 series [5152246]
- Reduced idle GPU clock speeds after the update to GRD 576.02 [5232414]
We’ve been aware of the display issues with the RTX 50 drivers for some time now. However, the newly discovered temperature sensor bug involved misreporting GPU temperatures, especially after a system wakes from sleep. After such a power pause, it seems the sensor doesn’t function correctly, causing quite a headache for many users. Thankfully, the latest hotfix aims to sort this out, sparing users from further frustration with this particular problem.
If you’re looking to resolve these issues, go ahead and download the GeForce Hotfix display driver version 576.15 to see if it makes a difference in your setup.
