Ready, set, go! As soon as Nintendo announced the release date for the Switch 2, they had to hit pause on preorders in the U.S. and Canada, thanks to some tariff issues involving Donald Trump. Eventually, those tariffs got pushed back to after the console’s release date, and now Nintendo has finally given North American fans a specific date to start the preorder race against those ever-annoying scalpers.
Mark your calendars, folks—retail preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will officially kick-off on April 24, 2025. If you were worrying about a price hike, you can relax. The cost remains steady at $449.99 for just the Switch 2, and $499.99 if you want to snag the Switch 2 with the Mario Kart World bundle.
For those eager to dive into the games, the prices are set as well: $79.99 for Mario Kart World and $69.99 for Donkey Kong Bananza. Both physical and digital versions will be available without any price changes at launch.
Here’s where it gets a bit tricky. Nintendo will be tweaking prices for Switch 2 accessories from the initial announcement on April 2nd due to what they’re calling “changes in market conditions.”
Keep in mind that this isn’t the only potential change. Prices for Nintendo products could continue to shift in the future, again depending on those pesky market conditions. Updates on pricing and products can be found over at www.nintendo.com.
While these price adjustments might be standard in business, current economic circumstances in the U.S. make changes more likely than before.
Despite these little bumps, it’s a relief knowing when we can try getting our hands on the Nintendo Switch 2. Don’t forget to register for preorder at Nintendo.com, if you’re eligible—especially if you want a fighting chance against those scalpers next Thursday. Happy hunting!
