Hey everyone! I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about the latest addition to the legendary Fatal Fury series, "City of the Wolves." This game introduces an exhilarating feature, the Two-Lane Battle system, which hits the Xbox Series X|S today.
Battle Across Two Lanes
This latest chapter sees the much-anticipated return of the Two-Lane Battle system. Certain stages now boast two lanes: a foreground and a background. By executing a specific attack, you can seamlessly switch between these lanes, maneuvering around the battlefield with new strategic options. The actions you can perform are heavily influenced by your current lane, adding dynamic new layers of strategy both on the offense and the defense, paving the way for some truly exciting victories!
Getting Started
To dive into this nostalgic combat system, select the Dream Amusement Park “Morning” stage; currently the sole stage to feature Two-Lane Battles, with promises of more to come soon. You’ll commence the battle in the same lane as your opponent, but you can switch lanes by pressing X and RB together. For those wanting to strike while switching, press A and RB for a special jumping lane switch attack.
When you and your opponent find yourselves in different lanes, an array of special attacks open up. A grounded lane switch attack is performed with X, placing you back with your opponent. Meanwhile, an airborne move can be executed by pressing A or B, and for a unique twist, the special lane pullback attack can be triggered with Y, bringing your rival to your lane.
This dynamic allows for innovative cross-lane combos—a sneak peek with Rock: start with X → Y → A + RB → B → Heavy Rising Tackle (Brake) → Heavy Hard Edge. Incorporating lane switch attacks in combos can significantly elevate your game!
Bringing Back the Classics
The Two-Lane Battle feature is a cherished element from Fatal Fury’s history, dating back to 1991. We’re ecstatic to reintroduce it in City of the Wolves and have it integrated into the training mode, inspiring both seasoned and new players to explore its potential. We’re eager to see how classic fans re-engage with this beloved mechanic and how newcomers will embrace the chaotic fun it brings.
