At CES 2025, Shiftall, the innovative team from Japan renowned for their MeganeX PC VR headsets, unveiled two exciting new VR controller accessories. These advancements include a controller compatible with SteamVR for PC and a distinctive extension for the Quest Touch controllers, equipped with both a scroll wheel and additional buttons.
### GripVR
Shiftall has introduced GripVR, their own SteamVR Tracking system-supported PC VR controller. It boasts a familiar button configuration with AB/XY buttons, responsive joysticks, triggers, and grips, all featuring capacitive touch sensors for enhanced interaction.
Promising up to eight hours of gameplay on a single charge via its USB Type-C port, GripVR stands out. It works seamlessly with a variety of SteamVR headsets, including Valve Index, HTC Vive, and Shiftall’s very own superlight “8K” MeganeX.
Expect to get your hands on GripVR by this summer, with prices ranging between $299 and $399.
### AddCon
Another intriguing reveal is AddCon, a novel accessory designed for the Quest 3/3S/Pro’s left-hand Touch controllers. This device enhances functionality by adding a wheel and buttons, likely improving interactions with 2D interfaces and VRChat controls.
A standout feature of the AddCon is its shift function, utilizing a capacitive sensor on the pinky finger rest, allowing users to switch between command sets with ease.
AddCon caters to gamers seeking advanced control options for VR applications, enabling adjustments like camera settings or avatar management in VRChat. It supports more than 14 customizable inputs, configurable via a special PC app that also serves as an OSC command transmitter for standalone VRChat configurations.
Connecting to Quest over Bluetooth LE or a GX6/GX2 dongle, AddCon charges through a USB Type-C port. It’s also scheduled for a Summer 2025 release, priced at $69 for this single left-hand Touch accessory.
This announcement comes on the heels of the new MeganeX superlight “8K” PC VR headset unveiled last year, expected to ship in early 2025 with a price tag of $1,899. This headset, SteamVR-compatible, is praised for its lightweight design and is equipped with dual 4K high-resolution OLED displays.
In line with our previous coverage on similar marketing claims, you might notice that the “8K” descriptor in MeganeX superlight 8K is quoted. This highlights that the “8K” label doesn’t strictly match the headset’s actual specifications of dual 3,552 × 3,840 OLEDs.
