Skyrim is no stranger to massive quest mods, and one of its notable ones, which has already engaged players with a realistic plague scenario, just received a significant upgrade. Titled “Death Consumes All,” this mod draws inspiration from The Witcher 3’s exceptional Hearts of Stone DLC.
If you dabbled in the original release of “Death Consumes All” back in 2020, you’d remember its impressive 10-hour questline that captured the community’s interest, garnering over 100,000 downloads on Nexus Mods. Anbeegod, the mod’s creator, crafted a fully-voiced, branching narrative that left players wanting more, and it looks like they’re getting just that.
In recent efforts, the modder has been diligently revamping nearly every aspect of the mod, stretching the main questline to approximately 30 hours. This new version, aptly titled “Death Consumes All – DLC Quest Mod (Revamped),” has just been made available to the public.
The storyline remains rooted in its original concept: a ferocious plague sweeps through Skyrim, mimicking the panic of real-world epidemics and threatening to wipe out the population by turning them into the undead. You’re not alone in this fight, as Livia Salvian, a fully developed companion, joins you in battling formidable foes, uncovering the plague’s dark secrets, and shaping the future of the realm.
But this revamped version isn’t just a polished retread. Anbeegod reports that they’ve “completely revamped most of the original quests to provide better flow, narrative depth, and writing.” Plus, they’ve incorporated additional quests, pushing the total from “over 13” to “over 17,” enriched with layered storytelling and varied choices, including a new introductory quest that seamlessly integrates with the rest. The voice acting has also seen enhancements, boosting the number of dialogue lines by an impressive 1,000.
An interesting twist in the latest update is the feature to “toggle off the plague,” sparing NPCs from certain doom—something medieval folks would have certainly appreciated. This, along with other refinements, should ideally make battles more enjoyable and balanced, and iron out common issues like bugs and mod conflicts.
For those enticed by thirty hours of ominous zombie encounters, this mod offers just that. As your Dragonborn navigates yet another apocalyptic scenario, what’s even more rewarding is that Anbeegod plans to donate 50% of the mod’s donation points to Doctors Without Borders, supporting real-world epidemic efforts. It’s both a thrilling and generous undertaking.
