Snap Lowers Prices on Spectacles AR Glasses for Students and Teachers

Snap, the company that brought us Snapchat, is offering an exciting opportunity for students and educators to get their hands on the latest Spectacles AR Glasses at a much friendlier price. Originally launched at $1,200, these augmented reality glasses now come at half the cost thanks to a special educational discount.

Rolled out in September 2024, Snap’s fifth-generation Spectacles, also known as Spectacles ’24, primarily cater to developers and cost $100 monthly with a year-long commitment. Despite being designed for advanced users, the hefty price tag has been a hurdle for many students and educators eager to dive into the world of AR app development and exploration.

The Spectacles ’24 bring some notable enhancements over their predecessors from 2021. These improvements include a broader field of view, superior resolution, advanced hand-tracking capabilities, and a revamped software system. Yet, the original pricing proved challenging for the educational market.

To better support learning, Snap now offers a compelling student discount. By enrolling in a program, you can have the Spectacles at just $49.50 monthly, with an initial 12-month requirement. Alternatively, you can choose a one-time payment option of $594 for the first year, with continued access at $49.50 per month from then on.

If you’re interested in snagging this deal, you’ll need a valid .edu email address or another accredited institutional email. This offer is accessible to students and teachers in several regions, including the US, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, and the Netherlands.
