Take-Two Interactive has recently let us in on some exciting news: they’re likely gearing up to support the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. However, details are still under wraps for now.
If you’ve been following the gaming giant, you’ll know they’ve brought a range of beloved titles to the original Nintendo Switch. Their portfolio includes popular collections like BioShock: The Collection and Borderlands Legendary Collection, as well as hits such as XCOM 2 Collection and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. Fans have also enjoyed New Tales from the Borderlands, LEGO 2K Drive, along with newer releases like NBA 2K25 and Sid Meier’s Civilization VII.
During the third-quarter earnings call for 2025, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, shed some light on their relationship with Nintendo. “Our partnership with Nintendo has been strong for a long time. We’ve supported their platforms whenever it aligned with our release strategy. There was a period when Nintendo’s consoles primarily targeted younger audiences, which influenced the types of games we published,” he remarked. “However, the landscape today—with the Nintendo Switch and potentially with the Switch 2—targets a broad spectrum of gamers. That’s why you’ll see games like Sid Meier’s Civilization VII on the Switch. We don’t have anything specific to announce yet, but we’re certainly expecting to support the Switch 2.”
For those eager to learn more, Nintendo plans to give us a first look through their Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation. This event is slated for Wednesday, April 2nd, airing at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm BST / 3pm CEST.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is set for a worldwide release in 2025, though the exact launch date is still under wraps. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
