For those who are more forward-looking, there was a tantalizing nugget of information from Todd Howard: The Elder Scrolls 6 is indeed still in the works! He didn’t shy away from mentioning that the team is actively developing it.

Howard’s brief but promising remark came right before the deep dive into all the thrilling details and footage from the Oblivion Remaster. He simply stated, “obviously we’re working on the 6th chapter here.”

And there you have it. This snippet is the most significant tidbit we’ve received about The Elder Scrolls 6 since March 2024, when Bethesda revealed that early versions were out for playtesting. They even hinted that the game might be enjoyable—a hopeful assurance we all needed.

Let’s take a step back. The last major update originated from a former Skyrim designer in October 2023, warning us not to expect much news until six months before the game’s release. Then there’s Phil Spencer’s optimistic yet slightly laughable prediction that ES6 was about five years out. Fast forward nearly two years, and substantial info remains as elusive as ever.

In reality, Bethesda hasn’t given much away. Their last concrete development confirmation, back in August 2023, came a shocking five years post-announcement at E3. Call me daring, but does anyone else think they jumped the gun a bit?

All jokes aside, it’s reassuring to see at least a glimmer of activity around Elder Scrolls 6. Bethesda, with its stellar RPG pedigree, will undoubtedly deliver a masterpiece. But honestly, a teaser or some artwork wouldn’t hurt.
