Fans eagerly awaiting updates on Marvel’s Wolverine for the PS5 have been met with a firm but polite response from Insomniac Games. The developers have made it clear that they’ll share news about the game when they decide the time is right, rather than succumbing to external pressure from anxious fans.
In a social media exchange, someone addressed a tweet concerning the Spider-Man 2 PC port, pointing out how PS5 players felt left in the dark regarding Wolverine. The message was laced with sarcasm, calling the studio “such a great team.”
While Insomniac Games typically doesn’t engage directly with such tweets, they made an exception here. Their response was straightforward: “We’ll share news about the game when we are ready to share it,” emphasizing “we” to highlight their autonomy. They added, “That will always be our answer. We can’t act on everything requested when things take time, resources, and the green light to share them.”
Despite the lack of updates, Insomniac affirmed that they are “actively” working on Wolverine, assuring fans of their commitment.
The studio faced a significant setback when a ransomware attack occurred late in 2023, resulting in a leak of Wolverine’s alpha footage. Although the team was disheartened by the leak, they assured everyone that this incident hasn’t affected the game’s development or their plans for revealing it.
Marvel’s Wolverine was first announced back in September 2021, but since then, details have been sparse. Extended development periods have become commonplace in the gaming world, so it could be some time before players get to see substantial gameplay footage.
