Yorutouge immerses you in a vibrant, psychedelic world set within VRChat, where the beats of Vocaloid reign supreme. Crafted by the creative team VR_SMEJ, it draws inspiration from the works of Kikuo, a renowned Vocaloid songwriter and producer. This lively 20-minute virtual rave is designed as a joyous escape in VRChat, offering a place to pause and lift your spirits when life’s burdens feel especially tough. “Our goal was to create a ‘manic stopping point’ for anyone seeking relief from life’s uncertainties,” the team shared.
During the NewImages Festival 2025, I had the opportunity to delve into this experience at the XR Market. As part of the XR Competition, Yorutouge stood out among 14 innovative projects. Accompanied by four other participants, I embarked on a journey that began in a mystical cavern and swiftly evolved into a mind-bending audio-visual extravaganza. The transition to the dance floor was seamless, with Kikuo spinning a set of five energetic tracks designed to keep our spirits high.
A standout feature is how the visuals completely transform the environment. The dazzling effects create an immersive experience that far surpasses your typical club night; however, it’s best avoided by those susceptible to epilepsy due to the intense light displays. The music selection is spot on, complementing the energetic atmosphere enhanced by meticulously crafted environments, always leaving you curious about what visual treat will come next.
