Zenless Zone Zero Unveils Trigger’s Iconic W-Engine

Zenless Zone Zero has officially unveiled some exciting details concerning Trigger, the forthcoming S-Rank character, whose special W-Engine will make its debut during the latter part of Version 1.6. This announcement comes as part of a wave of fresh content rolled out by HoYoverse for their action-packed urban RPG. Recent updates have already introduced a host of new elements including characters, bosses, and events. In the first half of Version 1.6, players saw the introduction of a new S-Rank variation of the starting character, Anby, along with new adversaries such as Hugo Vlad, who steps in as the formidable “Abyssal Enforcer” boss. As the second half of this update looms, HoYoverse is preparing for another content-rich release.

Fans of Zenless Zone Zero have been given a sneak peek into what lies ahead in the second phase of Version 1.6. This new segment will not only introduce Trigger but also bring Zhu Yuan back for her first re-run banner appearance. Additional minor events like “Virtual World: Battle Storm” and “Little Knight’s Big Charge” are also slated to take place. Now, attention has shifted to the official reveal of a new W-Engine.

The game’s social media channels were abuzz on Saturday morning with the announcement of Trigger’s signature W-Engine, named “Spectral Gaze.” When fully leveled to 60, this W-Engine boasts a base ATK value of 713 and a Crit Rate peaking at 24%. Its unique ability, “Wind Seeker,” reduces an enemy’s DEF when Aftershock is applied and grants a stacking “Spirit Lock” Impact buff, which enhances when the active character is not in play during a DEF shred. Additional buffs continue if maximum Spirit Lock stacks are maintained.

Understanding the mechanics, Trigger’s W-Engine is poised to complement Soldier 0 Anby, one of her optimal partners. Positioned as a stun unit, Trigger is expected to excel at instigating Daze, benefiting from Soldier 0 Anby’s primary DPS role. The synergy from Trigger’s Aftershock and its debuffs is a perfect aid for the S-Rank Anby, leveraging her reliance on such effects. Trigger and her W-Engine are scheduled to launch in the second half of Version 1.6 on April 2.

Meanwhile, as HoYoverse starts dropping hints for the next update, Version 1.7 promises to infuse new dynamism into the Zenless Zone Zero universe. The upcoming patch will feature two new characters, Hugo and Vivian, who are slated for their debut on the gacha banners. These characters, who first appeared in Version 1.5’s “The Day of Brilliant Wishes” and in the Lycaon’s Agent Story, are set to bring their riches of character development and gameplay possibilities.
